Tie-Dye Blouse

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

Lately I've been reaching for muted colors and neuturals, so when I spotted this tie-dye blouse from across the store at Marshalls- I knew it had to come home with me. I loved the subltle embroidered details, inkspot print, and the cute little poof balls on the neckline. If those little details alone didn't sell me, the fact that it was Cynthia Vincent for only $25 would have! I added some classic, crisp white jeans and these super cool textured heels. This is my ideal spring outfit- comfy jeans, a fun blouse and some killer heels. What's not to love?

Joie Blouse - c/o Marshalls
Clutch - c/o Marshalls
Brandy Melville Shorts - Plato's Closet ($10!)
Stuart Weitzman Sandals - Ebay
Bralet - Free People

I love the look of a low cut blouse, but sometimes it can be uncomfortable to have a deep neckline- especially for everyday wear. I discovered this amazing bralet from Free People that allows me to still enjoy plunging necklines while adding a little extra feminine detail and more importantly, coverage! I've been saving this breezy Joie blouse (from Marshalls for only $30!) for when I found the perfect under layer. At first, I wasn't sure if the blue was too much, but it added the fun pop of color and matched my clutch perfectly.

Also, can we talk about my sandals real quick.
I've been in LOVE with the Stuart Weitzman Cava sandals since the first time I saw them. Yes, love. Everything about them just screamed me, well, except the hefty price tag. That's why I woke up at 4:30am to bid on them on Ebay. We do crazy things for love ;)

Bleached Denim

Joes Jeans - c/o Marshalls
Top - c/o Marshalls
Blazer - Target
Heels - Thrifted

When I want to go for more of a laid-back outfit, the first thing I reach for is a pair of distressed jeans. There's just something about them that oozes "cool" and I love that they're all so different. You can have a darker wash with subtle distressing or bleached out jeans, covered in rips. I was browsing the racks at..you guessed it..Marshalls! I found this pair of Joes jeans and loved the bleached out wash and the distressing all over. I have been eyeing One Teaspoon's distressed jeans for quite some time, but I couldn't bring myself to spend over $150 on one pair. No way, not gonna happen! This pair was only $49.99 vs. $160! The boyfriend fit was the perfect contrast with my structured vest and I added a simple tank from The Cube at Marshalls. I know I post tons of Marshalls finds and this is exactly why- I'm able to find in-season, designer items at a fraction of the cost. I've tried shopping at department stores and always find myself looking for that second tag, you know..the discounted one! That moment is when I knew I was ruined...but in the best way possible! I've always enjoyed the thrill of the hunt and finding incredible deals and Marshalls makes that happen for me!

If you follow me on Instagram (@FrancescaPenko) I posted about Uriah's birthday party this past weekend. It was so fun celebrating with loved ones and watching him devour a cupcake..well.. two cupcakes. So messy! There was blue frosting everywhere and I wouldn't have it any other way.

Cropped

Ronny Kobo top - c/o Marshalls
Paige Jeans - c/o Marshalls
Dolce Vita Heels - Poshmark
Rebecca Minkoff Purse - Plato's Closet

If someone had told me that I would be wearing a crop top after I had Uriah, I would have laughed in their face. Crop tops are totally intimidating! Especially after having a baby, getting older, and having a crazy addiction to baguettes. Seriously, it's bad. I have to have so much self control around bread. I tried on this designer crop top by Ronny Kobo on at Marshalls, fell in love, and took it home immediately. I got a larger size than I normally would, because I liked the extra length and the fit of the bigger size. But I will admit, it sat in my closet for quite some time until I worked up enough courage to wear it. I tried it on with so many outfits and always chickened out. After finding these slim fit, high-waist Paige jeans on clearance at Marshalls, I decided these would be the perfect pair for the blouse- not too much midriff and a sleek silhouette.
If you're looking to try this trend, head to Marshalls to check out their selection. I picked out this top in the woman's section, but The Cube has amazing crop tops for a smaller price tag. This way you can try the trend without investing too much :)

Here are a few ways to bring crop tops into your wardrobe

Layered Over- try pairing it with a longer layer underneath. You can still have the cropped silhouette and won't have to worry about the bare midriff. This is great for transitioning into cooler months!

Faux Crop- Not wanting to purchase a crop top that you may never wear? Try tying up a blouse like I did in this post for a faux crop. Best part? You can choose the length you want!

High-Waisted - My favorite way to incorporate crop tops- with a high-waisted bottom. I'm not ready to have my whole stomach out!

Overalls - Overalls are making their way back and they look killer when paired with a crop top! You have the sides of your midriff peaking out and don't have to worry about too much skin showing.

What are some ways you would wear a crop top?

White Lace Dress

Friday, May 1, 2015

1st Outfit
Dress- Plato's Closet ($6!)
Hat - Plato's Closet
Heels - c/o Marshalls

2nd Outfit
Rag & Bone top - c/o Marshalls ($10!)
Restyled Joes Jeans
 Uriah's Shorts - c/o Marshalls

Summer is right around the corner and I'm already breaking out my warm weather clothing. Usually our afternoons are spent downtown - Nick and I grab lattes and take Uriah to splash around in the fountain and play on the grass. It's a fun way to have family time and enjoy the beautiful outdoors.
Lately I've been reaching for lighter fabrics and prints, and always grabbing some type of sandal. I decided to pair this outfit with a laser-cut bootie, but added this cute pair from Simons to my wish list. It's like a new, sleeker take on the popular Birkenstock.

If you saw on Instagram, Uriah turned a year old. What?! Where has time gone? I can't believe our little guy is technically a toddler. I guess they weren't lying when the said the first year goes by so quickly. Here area few little photos I took of him. If you can't tell..he loved that cupcake!
Also- I'm always looking for cute t-shirts and found this amazing Rag & Bone top from Marshalls...for only $10 - amazing! You will definitely be seeing it again ;)
